Who are we?
We are a family of four, figuring out our way through life. All of us have very different interests and passions, but what drives us all is the need for a happy, healthy and independent life.
I am Saee, a 17 year old girl and join me today as I tell you about our story!
Let us rewind a little to 2023, when we first encountered the place we now call our home. This was not the first time we had met a farmland and wanted to call it ours. Thankfully, fate was on our side this time - with a lot of help and back and forth trips, we finally did it! We were proud owners of a small piece of 5-acre farmland!
This was just the beginning to our dream come true of having the perfect home. A place where we grow our own food, a place where every breath is energizing, a place from where we can gaze upon the uncountable stars and a place where we can be closer to the soil.
With the help of a local mason, we moved into a small house with stone for walls and traditional tiles for the roof. I still remember the early days of construction when we used to eat, cook, study and sleep in the same room. Not getting good sleep because of a leaky roof is definitely on the top of my list of the most humbling experiences of my life.
[apparently, due to a drop in the temperature at night, water trapped in the cement used to try and escape - only to get stuck on the roof and then to fall on my peacefully sleeping face]
We have come a long way since then. It has been a year, and many things have changed. We now have different rooms for cooking and sleeping (yay) along with cute additions to the family!
One of my many favorite memories have to be the कंदील-light dinners. After a long day, there are few things better than relishing a meal in which you know where every little part of it came from. The wheat in the chapati to the peanuts in the sabzi to the turmeric in the daal - every bite is satisfying!
Every day is a new adventure - there is so much to do and learn. We are excited to see what lies in store for us and cannot wait to share our journey with you!
"What day is it?"
"It's today" squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day" said Pooh.
In this age she captured a fantastic knowledge.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written Saee. God bless you.
ReplyDeletethank you so much!
